Bologna: First stop in the direction of Greece

The first stopover on our journey from Munich to Crete is the beautiful city of Bologna.

The best place to start your sightseeing tour of Bologna is ´Piazza Maggiore´, the centre of the city. It is located centrally and surrounded by some of Bologna´s most important monuments. These include the Bologna Cathedral and the Basilica di San Petronio.

In the Middle Ages, the city was dotted with many towers. Nowadays, there are only a few left, but we recommend you take a look at them! One of them is the Torre degli Asinelli. It is almost 100 meters high and 500 wooden stairs lead to its top. From the top, you have a wonderful view all over the city!

L´Archiginnasio is a rather building which seems rather plain from the outside but is infact a very unique buidling! Back in the late Mid-Ages ist served as a university whereas nowadays it is a library. Inside, you can not only read books but also enjoy beautiful paintings and arms by former students.
